Assignment #2 Music Grades 4 & 5

What is your “Go To” song when you want to feel good?

Something really special about music is that it can bring you joy – especially in hard times.  I thought it would be fun to create a “Feel Good Playlist” of songs that are uplifting – songs that inspire happiness and hope!

  1.  First check out one of Mrs. Hayes’ favorite uplifting songs below as an example: “It’s Gonna Be Okay” by The Piano Guys.  Or Mrs. Troxel’s go to happy song: “I’m On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons. Or even Mr. Kamp’s favorite song from Frozen 2 - it always puts a smile on his face, and as we navigate through online learning we are “Lost in the Woods.”  The videos are attached below.

  2. Find one song that makes you happy.  Share the song’s title and artist with a family member or friend.  Listen to your song and reflect in a few sentences about why you think this song could bring others happiness and hope.

  3. Interview an adult! (either someone where you live or on the phone) about one song that makes them happy!  Ask them for the title, artist and why the song makes they feel good. Listen to their song and write about why it makes them happy and what you find uplifting about it too.

  4. Share both song titles, artists and your short reflections with your family.  Share with your music teacher if you have a computer! Include links to songs if you can.  We can put together a list of feel good songs to share for all to enjoy! Have fun!Music notes

The melody on the music sheet starts at 2:20 into the video with bassoons playing the melody.      4/5 Song Lyrics for LINCS Fine Arts Night

"This Is Me"  (from "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack)

SOLO: I'm not a stranger to the dark
Hide away, they say, 'Cause we don't want your broken parts
I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars
Run away, they say, No one ‘ll love you as you are, But

I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us, For we are glorious

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown ‘em out
I am brave, I am bruised, I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come, And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen, I make no apologies, this is me.

Oh___ Oh___ Oh___ Oh___  Oh_Oh_ Oh__ Oh Oh
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away 'cause today, I won't let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades, And reaching for the sun

We are warriors, Yeah, that's what we've become

I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us, For we are glorious

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown ‘em out
I am brave, I am bruised, I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come, And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen, I make no apologies, this is me

Oh___ Oh___ Oh___ Oh___  Oh_Oh_ Oh__ Oh Oh ...This is me

Oh___ Oh___ Oh___ Oh___  Oh_Oh_ Oh__ Oh Oh
SOLO: When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

Oh, Danny Boy (Irish melody, English words)

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!

Start with the End in Mind (Written by LINCS 4/5 classes/StuartStotts

We've got hopes and we've got goals.

We've got dreams in our souls

We'll be strong, and we'll be kind

We'll start with the end in mind.

  1. Set a goal, (set a goal) you can meet it

Set a goal, you can beat it

Set a goal, and exceed it

And you'll find success (Chorus)

  1. Have a plan and conceive it

Have a plan and believe it

Have a plan and achieve it

And you'll find success. (Chorus)

Strings before 3

  1. Follow through and pursue it

Follow through you can do it

Follow through you can prove it

And you'll find success! (Chorus)

Six hand, seven hand, eight foot bunch, Daylight come and me wanna go home

Six hand, seven hand, eight foot bunch, Daylight come and me wanna go home
